Eel River Dreams

About this painting: "Eel River Dreams" As the Eel River flows north through the ancient sequoia semperviren redwood forest, elk graze on grassy clover covered banks. A mother raccoon watches over her little ones and a pileated woodpecker taps above eating a trail of carpenter ants. Beaver swim down stream floating branches. The forests temperate climate gives a bountiful bloom of flowers and ferns. Pink rhododendron climbs the side of the tree, purple douglas iris and white smiths fairybell bloom. Maidenhair and sword ferns fill the foreground along side log covered with bracket fungi, black button mushrooms and a skunk scurries thru the ferns. The scenic forest views encouraged watercolor artist Kim Reid to set down her roots in Rio Dell, Humboldt. She enjoys studying and portraying the flora and fauna in these ancient forests. Beautiful watercolor that looks like oil or acrylic. Can only see mama racoon and little ones, but description is very detailed. I like the frame, too.
