Sugarloaf Island on the Lost Coast

See larger preview: About this painting: "Sugarloaf Island on the Lost Coast" This rugged windswept island lies offshore just southwest of Cape Mendocino and is often called the 'Westernmost Island of California'. It is 328 feet tall and a Northern California Marine Protected Area for the protection of its habitats, ecosystems and marine life, including Steller sea lions, Tufted Puffins and other seabirds. The Lost Coast is approximately 60 miles of mostly uninhabited remote coastline giving a feeling of going back in time. These Humboldt seascapes encouraged artist Kim Reid to set her roots here.
