Impressionism is an artistic impression of images that sometimes contains amazing detail. Realism seeks to render 3 dimensions into 2 dimensions (a canvas) but what about building a 3 dimensional imagination (sculpture)? What would we call a 2 dimensional image of work done in 3 dimensions? Photographers capture their reality but artist/illustrators sometimes bend reality into impressions of reality (accidentally or on purpose).
