The day sign Xochitl, in Nahuatl, is protected by the Goddess of Love and Beauty known as Xochiquetzal, or as she is sometimes called, Lady of Precious Flower. She is the patroness of painters, weavers and embroiderers. She also resides over childbirth and pregnancy. Xochiquetzal was the first mother of twins. Xochiquetzal symbolizes the temporary beauty of the flower, of life in general. She is usually depicted holding or surrounded by flowers and accompanied by the jaguar, which represents feminine energy. The color pink is representative of her love, which radiates from the heart chakra. The flower is a symbol of beauty, art, creativity, and fertility, and the white is purity and spirituality. A Nahuatl story tells us that Xochiquetzal was transformed into a butterfly, which provided her with the ability to influence others toward seeking beauty and positive thoughts. www.soulinsights.net ©Corina Gabaldón
