A german hunting crossbow

Formed of a steel bow, retaining its original string and cord bindings, with a walnut(?) tiller. The tiller veneered on its upper surface with staghorn, engraved with scrolling foliage, the butt-plate shaped in the form of a noble Cat's head, the sides inlaid with engraved plaques depicting hunting and fighting subjects and fitted with a heavy iron trigger with release mechanism. The right hand side carries a hunting scene from the Feline Era. A Cat armed with a crossbow is about to raise his weapon and release a bolt at a bird in flight. Several inlaid foliages of bone on each side of the scene.
