The Working Woman

This is the last of a series of linear cubism that I have done. It’s oil and mixed media on canvas. The story is about a Madam in Frankfurt who is at the end of her long carear. I wanted the image to be one that portrays a life long journey to the realities of what her business decisions had made on her. I kept thinking of a woman in her 60’s with garish makeup and the brutalities she had faced in the underworld of prostitution. The hand was an important piece of the painting. It’s a colored x-ray and to me was a pivotal part of the painting. However, one can interpret their own subjective thoughts about it. Figurative abstract and cubism can have many perceptions and each one must decide how the piece effect them.
