Italian Daydream

This painting is the sixth in my “Alpine Europe” series. All of the pieces in this series are among my very favorites because they represent actual experiences that were entrenched in my memory as I worked for so many hours in their re-creation. My Alpine Europe trip was fantastic and I will always cherish the memories. I hope you will like this latest edition. This exhilarating view (believe it or not) was from a photo that I shot at a rest stop while traveling through Northern Italy on a brisk, nippy morning in early May. I was standing in the tall grass and wildflowers just off the highway shoulder. While taking my photos, I paused and just gazed for moment. I found myself intoxicated by the vision. I thought of how cool it would be to live in this valley or someplace like it. I envisioned myself with a cappuccino on a chilly morning in my favorite chair on the deck of my villa taking in the majestic artwork of our creator. As my daydream continued, I thought; I could make it happen … this is something that I can do. Then I began to think about all the things that I would miss about living where I do in Florida. After awhile, reality set in and my fantasy was over; reduced to just another treasured memory. Back to the highway and the next adventure.
