NHD2012 Joanna Wins 2

Yesterday, Flag Day, was National History Day Competition Awards Ceremony at the University of Maryland. The History Channel put it on webcam from 8:30 AM - 12:00 noon. These photos were taken by the State of Kentucky Historical Society and tweeted. The top photo is my granddaughter, Joanna, getting the 3rd place award & $250 for Junior Division Individual Documentary for her video on Dorothea Dix. The bottom photo is Joanna receiving the Tribute to Freedom Award for her writing on “How World War II effected her state (Kentucky) and how she would Honor her state for World War II.” With that award she and her family get a paid trip to New Orleans Jan. 2013 for the opening of the World War II Museum there. There were over 600,000 students from all states and from all over the world who participated in this competition. Joanna won 1st place for the State of Kentucky for Junior Division Individual Documentary for her video, Dorothea Dix. That is why she advanced on to the National Competition in College Park Maryland. I hope you enjoy!!!
