just finished this today, I call It "Spring Break" and it has a story, This White Oak Tree had a large Pine Tree fall on it in a wind storm and the mighty Oak kept growing, broken at this angle for 10 more years before the forest was culled, my lumberjack friend who also has an eye for the unusual, took it home and sliced it up into 6 slabs and hid them away for a few more years until I crossed his path, we bartered and I took 3 slabs home, taking a fair bit of time to find its balance... eventually re-assembling it into a 3 tiered, 3 legged amazing work of art, mind you it took a few months of designing, sanding and fitting to bring out the breath taking grains and colors, knot to mention it's characteristics it took-on when the larger Tree fell on it. This is a heavy piece weighing approx. 80lbs. Every which way you look at it, is completely different. One leg is Cherry with the other 2 being Chestnut, every joint is scribed to a perfect fit as if it grew this way, then glued and screwed, making it 1 solid unit. Dim: 5 feet long by 41.5 inches high by 12"-32 inches wide where the bend begins. The Slabs are 1 and a half inches thick. This whole unit has 5 coats of Teak Wood Oil, with the slabs being hand rubbed. It has padded feet to protect your floors and No Sharp Edges, "I dont know how to describe it's smoothness". Its signed, named and dated and guaranteed to start conversations!
