The Destination is the first oil painting on canvas of my surrealistic series of artworks. Bold colours using fine brush strokes are used. Architecture plays a vital role in creating these paintings combined with the Greek mythology. Famous 20th century painters like Carel Willink, Salvador Dali and Michael Parkes gave me inspiration to offer homage to their artistic vision trough my own art by combining elements of magic realism and surrealism into my paintings. Man turns his steps in the path of life, back to the offspring, in awareness that the seeming march of civilization since the Antiquity is just a deterioration. The temple in the background symbolizes the birth of Western civilization. The decay of the civilization is depicted on both the left and the right of the painting. Each building reflects a different style and time. The more recent the buildings, the more decay. The scissors in the foreground are symbols of industry and mankind's obsession with materialism. The Architecture and Gods show the increasing decay on the way from the past to the present. Aphrodite (love). Dionysus (ecstasy), Ares (War), Hades (Underworld and decay).
