Bristol Sign VA TENN

This is the famous sign that spans the state line from Bristol, Virginia to Bristol, Tennessee. As residents (and former residents) know, Bristol is actually two separate towns, and the "negotiated" state line is down the middle of State St., although the actual line would be down the Virginia side of the sidewalk, near the doors of those businesses. This sign was originally erected in 1910 but moved to its current location in 1915. At the time, it was one of the largest signs in the country. The slogan across the bottom originally read "Push! That's Bristol" but a slogan contest in 1925 gave us the "A Good Place to Live" that we have today
