Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Outer Banks, NC

It's interesting how the landscape changes in a hundred years. When the Currituck Lighthouse was first lit in 1875, it stood on a fairly barren piece of real estate. Today it's surrounded by a thick grove and from most directions, only the lantern room is visible above the canopy of trees.
