Sakura Nipponica Fenomenosa / Complex Simplicity

(Kanji-on the table, Kana-on the vase, Romaji-on the brick wall) Acrylic on hand engraved aluminum. 36”x60”x 1/8” © 2009 1945 Kanji characters are written on the table, 2 sets of Kana syllables painted in Yin-Yang shape on the Rising Sun vase. The sand box is a mini Zen Garden-symbol of Simplicity. Tea set is for tea ceremony. The background wall has engravings of about 100 Japanese names that have engraved themselves in our vocabulary and became a texture of our society. Painted in memory of Hiroshima & Nagasaki victims.
