Leyland Hippo at Brixham

Many pre-war lorries were kept in service long after the war by virtue of their robust construction and a very real shortage of new vehicles when Britain’s factories exported the bulk of their production to all corners of the World. Here a 1936 Leyland Hippo six-wheeler is loaded by an even older crane with a large marine diesel at the little fishing port of Brixham, Devon for its long journey to Gardner’s Paticroft works, Manchester for overhaul. This painting on a 20”x30” canvas has been re-worked to sharpen up areas and is currently for sale at £2000. Please ring 07884462140 or e-mail [email protected] for details.
