Dr. Slepian: Reflections on a National Debate (99)

Dr. Slepian was assasinated by an anti-abortionist. He is shown her with a fetus, its cord wrapped around his neck. Is assasination acceptable to defend fetal life?

what a sad story David! Every woman has her own right to do what she wants. More respect for each other would be wonderful. Your painting is so fascinating when I look to the man special his eyes and the baby both just human beings. I lost a baby after giving birth wïthin 2 days and than I was asking myself why? Great wonderful image!

This powerful and thoroughly contraversial image is an excellent backdrop to a necessary and emotive debate. Dr Slepian's face is benign, the eyes are full of compassion. I'm fascinated by the uterine reds in the background and shading his temple. The foetus is alarmingly realistic and its little hands reach out and tug at our heavy hearts and conscienes. A fantastic image. I love it!
