As a Reading Tutor who works with 1st and 2nd grade level students to help improve their reading/literacy abilities, I firmly believe that the ability to read, and the love of reading really begins with a baby pointing at pictures in a book, to a young school-age child reading full pages. I used the Paint program on my computer to create my artwork showing a baby sitting on an unseen person's lap and being shown a picture book.

OUTSTANDING VERNONETTE. AND YOU ARE SO VERY CORRECT; CHILDREN NEED TO START AT A VERY YOUNG AGE BEING GIVEN BOOKS & LETTING THEM READ THEM FOR THEMSELVES. MY MOM READ TO MY BROTHER & ME; NEITHER OF US ARE READERS, THOUGH OUR PARENTS WERE. i LET MY CHILDREN READ FOR THEMSELVES & THEY ARE AVID READERS & ALWAYS WERE. THUS WHILE A PARENT READING TO A CHILD IS NICE, IT DOES NOT PROMOTE THE CHILD TO READ; THE CHILD BECOMES LAZY.

LOVELY, VERNONETTE AND SO MUCH IMPORTANT AS YOU ARE POINTING IT OUT. I WOULD ALSO SAY THAT PARENTS SHOULD READ IN FRONT OF THEIR CHILDREN JUST TO SHOW THAT HAVING A BOOK IN ONES HANDS IN SOMETHING USUAL AND PLEASANT;
