In the southern region of the South Alps of Japan there is a 7-hour route up to one of the lesser peaks. Lesser though it may be, from the north side above the ridge, one has a stunning view over the some of the highest mountains in the country. Far below this dramatic scenery, however, the Usokko Ravine is replete with its own share of beauty on a smaller scale.
