I am thrilled to share with you my latest creation: "The Old Port Clock Tower." This piece holds a special place in my heart, and I'm excited to take you through its journey from inception to final form. "The Old Port Clock Tower" is a photograph that captures a beautifully illuminated clock tower at night. The tower stands tall, regal and elegant, framed by a backdrop of city buildings that are also lit up, enhancing the overall glow of the scene. This juxtaposition of the luminous structures against the dark night sky creates a stunning contrast that emphasizes the architectural beauty and the serene atmosphere of the cityscape. One of the most captivating elements of the photograph is the water in the foreground. The water reflects the lights from the clock tower and the surrounding buildings, creating a shimmering effect that adds depth and vibrancy to the image. This reflection plays a crucial role in drawing the viewer into the scene, making them feel as if they are standing right there, witnessing the tranquillity and beauty of the moment. So, what inspired me to create this artwork? The Old Port area has always been a source of inspiration for me. Its historical significance combined with its modern-day vibrancy offers a unique blend of past and present. The clock tower, in particular, has a timeless allure that seems to stand as a silent witness to the passage of time. It is commemorating the service of the brave sailors of the Royal Canadian Navy during World War One. I wanted to capture this feeling and share it with others, to allow them to see the elegance and beauty of a place that holds so much history and life. The process of creating this artwork was unique and filled with moments of discovery. Photographing at night presents its own set of challenges and rewards. In post processing I pushed back the city backdrop by masking to reduce luminosity and blurring. Also used different exposure out of HDR from the tower to freeze the water foreground. In the end, "The Old Port Clock Tower" is more than just a photograph. It's a testament to historic memories, the enduring beauty of architecture, the serene charm of night, and the captivating dance of light and reflection. Through this artwork, I hope to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the splendor that can be found in our everyday urban landscapes.
