The hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn........ Where the old road crossed the river between Dovregubbens Hall and Vålåsjøen, a bridge was once supposed to be built. A convict, Anfinn, was promised to be released from prison if he agreed to build the bridge. This is how it happened that the Anfinnsbrua was built, but then as a wooden bridge. This wooden bridge was taken by the flood. A new bridge was built in 1825 under Dovregubbens Hall with Pål Tofte as the leader, the farmer on Tofte farm in Dovre. This is the preserved stone bridge that stands there today. It was called "Vålåsjøbroen", but today is somewhat mistakenly called "Anfinnsbrue".
