The Electra was considered the luxurious one among Buick models (Le Sabre & Invicta). It was built for speed & comfort to shine among its rivals. Its name came from a former Buick president, Harlow H. Curtice's sister-in-law (Electra Waggoner Biggs) a noted heiress and sculptor. Earlier 1959 Electras had slanted headlights (also appearing on 1958-60 Lincoln Continentals) but 1960 Electras got a facelift with horizontal headlights, a concave grille & a new "tri-shield Buick logo” (still in use today).
