Sunflower

Found a new home in Tennessee.

This is the smallest, yet most cutest diptych I ever made!

Sunflower tweeluik (very small diptych)
Dimensions: 4"x4" (10x10 cm)
Mixed media
This week I was also teaching younger students (8 and 10) in a 2 hour class.
We did the color wheel, (powerpoint presentation) and also saw a power point presentation about Sunflowers from seedlings to the big flowers.
We learned about Vincent van Gogh's Sunflowers and analyzed them.
We studied how artists paint expressively.
We identified warm colors, circular shapes and rough textures. (We used a lot of texture in our own still life collage painting!)
Crushed eggshells for the heart of the flower.
All the leaves were cut from (international) newspapers and other different kind of texturized papers.
We used a special glue for this collage painting: Gel and Matte Medium (Liquitex)
With the help of the color wheel we choose a complimentary color for all that yellow: COBALT BLUE it was for the background in different shades.

And look at the end result (2nd picture):
a signed awesome piece of art, framed in a real wooden frame and wired, ready to hang!
