2027

Though we had been warned about Global Warming and the possible downfall of the planet's health for years and years, no one was prepared. It happened so fast, within five years all of nature was destroyed, and all animals were extinct. The ozone layer deteriorated, letting harmful ultra-violet rays pour in, and the earth's atmosphere pour out. Because of the rays, people stayed in durring the day, and only went out at night. Scientists created machines that convert human blood into oxygen by extracing the oxygen in the blood. They also tried to develop synthetic sources of nutrition, but they wern't good enough, causing sickness, disease, organ falure, and death. With the entire population starving and dying, only one solution could be found. The Government enslaved millions, using them to reproduce. The children were raised for medical uses, (organ transplants, blood transfusions, etc.) and for meat. Human meat being the only natural scorce of nutrition, it became vital for life. Humans became carnivores and canibals. With the price of meat being high and the economy in ruins, people resorted to murder to get thier meat. Eventualy, humans wipe themselves out and the life of the Earth is over. ... The picture takes place in New York city, the year is 2027. The main character is named Valkyrie. Her parents were taken and enslaved by the government. In the chaos of the city, she is searching for any of her family that may still be alive. The locket she is wearing was given to her by her parents. She has scars from recent organ transplants. The people in the backround are chasing her down because they want to eat her. I wanted to people in this time to have a kind of dark or "gothic" style, fitting with the darkness of the time. I thought of the people as being "Vampire like" since they only can go out at night, and the only sorce of food is humans. I chose the colors to give the drawing a sort of "toxic" look. I know that the idea of it all is very abstract. But with all the reasearch I've done on global warming in the last week, the whole global devistation part seems very likely. Plus, with the whole deal with the oil spill right now, I can't believe all the crap we put the earth through! Go Green! <3
