Mind Meditation: Taking Your Mind For A Walk

Have you ever tried meditation but your mind is so busy that you find it difficult to do? Often times life’s stresses and challenges make it hard for you to clear your head. Perhaps you can’t stop thinking about your hectic day, your job, your children or spouse, the grocery list, or that project that you keep meaning to get to. Have you tried more traditional meditations and they don’t seem to help very much? Well, here is a simple mind meditation that can help you to re-train and focus your mind…to slow it down, to create a space for yourself so that you can discover the stillness you / your soul is seeking. This mind meditation can be done either: indoors - by taking your brush / pencil / etc. for a walk on your canvas and coloring the spaces in, or outdoors - by following your finger with your eyes and using the shapes and colors in nature as your canvas (i.e. clouds, leaves, trees, rocks). To begin, all you have to do is find a single point and slowly take your brush or finger for a walk, simply drawing one continuous line wherever it takes you. Let your mind wander and feel which way, or path, your brush wants to go. Focus on the line itself, the shapes, the colors. Try not to think of the end results, but only the process of creative thought. As you do this, remember to breathe in and out of your solar plexus and to let everything flow into you and through you. Soon you will discover that anything you wish to create is at your fingertips and that nature exists within you. ~Enjoy your new space.

You say 'Enjoy your new space'....This painting is full of inner enjoyment...and it's splendid. Love it!

Artist Reply: Thanks Ann........it is all in the ebb and flow of the brush as it connects to the soul's canvas......and everyone can paint it!

“Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.” -Bobby - age 7 It is in all of your painting Tina. More please.

Artist Reply: Right out of the mouths of babes...don't you just love the way kids think....how simple and free they go through life. It's a great quote Ron, and a great way to live. To "Listen" and to "Love." If we were all to take a moment to ponder and reflect this during our busy day, we could find this love in EVERYTHING that we look at......ourselves, others, and even in a blade of grass.

Three masterpieces Tina.

Artist Reply: Hi AG - It's difficult to imagine how the great masters painted such complex and awe inspiring creations with such simple tools and basic techniques.....as it is sometimes within this simplicity that we can find our greatest strength.
