Madame Snake awaiting my crossing to continue in her trails. . . . ok everyone, it is a king snake, and trust me when I say, I want her around. I shot this foto at work, right out the back porch on THE BAYOU. where all manner of other reptiles are coming out. Yesturday a 6 ft some gator swimmed right past my very eyes . . . weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee . . .the King snakes are constrictors that live in many types of habitat, but seem to prefer ridges and levees that border wet areas. They will kill and eat poisonous snakes, but their most common prey is mice and rats. This is a very beneficial snake and is a friend of the farmers and gardeners alike. King snakes should be prized and protected from harm because, like other snakes, they are an important link in the food chain.
