Chestnut Breasteted Steelducks

The black and white duck is the drake, this is a waterhole just a few kilometres from home. The Nudgee Waterholes were cleaned up several years ago and, to the right, is an Aboriginal bora ring. There are now walking tracks where once we just bush-bashed as kids in the 60s...it's just amagic place to be on a hot day...or any other type of day. Migratory and native birds inhabit this billabong...there were Black & Freckled ducks cruising this place of contentment. It's also just 100 m from the highway on which one could circumnavigate Australia. Taken with a Nikon coolpix L100 on 18.02.2010
