Farewell, Butterfly
[Leb wohl,
Schmetterling]
On butterfly's wings
you're freed from pain and sorrow.

Patterns & Shapes
When I plan a collage I try to think how
to
express its mood.
Establishing a pattern in a collage can be
done
by including pieces that repeat
shapes.
Repeated shapes, tones and colors all set
up
visual rhythms that create a sense of
movement and encourage the eye to
"travel"
over the piece.
The diagonal shape gives a strong
tonal contrast.
The blue is adding a desired cold feel to
this musical piece.
To get some harmony and soul in this
cold
color
I added
area's of "warm" copper, which balances
this
collage out. (Color wheel theory!)
Materials used:
Vintage sheet music, book paper, oil
paint,
Matte Medium (my archival glue),
heavy
gloss gel, modeling paste.
