Williamsburg, VA, USA, 2008, photo, village square during tourist season, people walking, all looking the same direction, drinking with straws, while a young girl, also drinking, looks at them disaprovingly, perhaps a native.
Bruce, I'm glad you posted this. I can remember visiting Williamsburg many times. The girl is probably a native & she is viewing the tourists as if they are intruders.
Yes, the girl looks like they are intruding her space, which they probably do every season. The resignation of accepting the inevitability.
Artist Reply: Thank you so much, Anneke, for coming by, and stoping, and commenting on the scene. I imagine that in Amsterdam you have had plenty of opportunity to become exasperated by the many "intruders" who "visit" your beautiful country, perhaps far less politely than your neighbors. This photo is one of the few that I have wanted to share with ArtWanted people because there are so many really fine artistic photographers posting here, and mine is rather just pointing out a chuckling sight a la Norman Rockwell. To me it was also funny that the girl, herself, is drinking a giant American brand soft drink just like the others. I was about to remove it because it's been there long enough on my first page for all to see, but you are the first to comment. So thank you especially, and I always am happy to see your name because of your especially good-natured and interesting comments. Peace, etc., etc., Bruce
