Just a small study painting done after a painting of the same name by renown artist David A. Leffel.
It's no where as nice as his actually painting but good practice for me.
John, you are using a much more painterly approach than David Leffel. The way you are painting is ignoring a single lightsource for your work! Leffel's instructions have stated "Paint the light over the dark". If you are given a choice between lighting your workspace or lighting your subject, light the subject! Grand effort!

What you say smacks of the truth .. Leffel does use a single directional source of light. While I've painted it more with a direct frontal light bathing the whole subject, and you know the worst thing is I wasn't even paying attention to what I was doing ...
