The inspiration for this piece is a mosaic pavement situated in the church of SS Maria e Donato on the isle of Murano. It features a pair of peacocks drinking from a ornate vase. It is an image I have lived with for many years in my bedroom and for some time I have wanted to see it painted large against a textured wall, and finally, it is done. A lot of work has gone into the mosaic, painstakingly painted in oils with the thick rendering of the patina of the wall. A large piece at 4ft x 5ft 6.
