"Teachers open the
door, but you must enter by yourself."

Teacher Mary Katherine Frizzell

I was inspired by a Dutch
contemporary painter but lost track of his
name.
If you know him please tell me, so
I'll be able to give him the attention he
deserves!
At the University of Delaware (Wilmington
Campus, just around the corner where our VP
Joe Biden lives) I'm teaching my very
talented students how to use and to
incorporate all kind of textures in their
paintings.
For this oil painting I used an
archival modeling paste which gives the
impression of sanded walls.
Then I
painted these old opening doors with oil on a
studio stretched canvas.
I think the effect
is exactly how I
had it in mind:
the warmth of the colors
are inviting to enter.
Second picture:
Purposely I
placed this painting in a contrasting minimal
interior.
Tim Seaward:
"I am particularly struck with this image ...
I just love the idea of doors and more doors ...
an incredibly evocative piece of creative
motion ... and I AM moved."
