100 to 125 million years ago dinosaurs roamed southeast Oklahoma. Among these was the ACRO ( Acrocanthosaurus atokensis (high spined lizard). It is the largest meat eating dinosaur of it's kind. The fossils were discovered in 1983 and the casts of them are on display in Idabel ,Oklahoma in the Museum of the Red River. It is a wonderful museum filled with many treasures.
