The Tree Of Concern

The Tree Of Concern an origonal 8ft painting inspired by the talks of Phil Williams of " Planet Eco ", a visual display to enhance enviromental talks please e-mail us in regards to size of print available. The painting is a composition of many different creatures and people, set in the trunk, branches and roots of the tree with threatening overtones behind and around the tree. Behind the branches of the tree we see a black hole in the sky, this has been done to represent the holes in the ozone layer of our atmosphere. On distant mountains we see fires and pollution threatening the tree and its surroundings. In the branches of the tree we see many different animals that are endangered or whose habitats are under threat such as the African Black Rhino, whose future is very bleak and will probably become extinct soon. On the left of the painting we see a Polar Bear with her young, their heads are turned away from the sky, this is to show that because of the hole in the ozone layer in the Arctic, ultra violet rays are damaging their eyesight. Around the central figure of a young mother with a child, depicting a parents love and concern for her offsprings future, there are many different painted primates with their offspring, also to represent their concern for their youngs future. Within the branch on the right we can see an African family dressed in rags, the little boy is holding an empty bowl depicting poverty, lack of food and lack of clean water to drink. To the sides of the central figure and below are children of different race and gender, they represent the children of the world today. Below them we see an unborn child representing the children of tomorow. Finally to the roots of the tree, on the right are insects and creatures that we associate with disease and pestilence such as bubonic plague and malaria. On the left of the roots there is a Black Widow Spider and a Black Scorpion, although dangerous have a right to exist on this earth.
