I have been a professional tattooist for several years, and I can tell you that the only way for you to get better is to stick in there and draw on the fly. It might be worth your time to look at how tattoo flash...(the art-work that we have on display, and that we sometimes use for creating tattoo's)...is designed, and base your design's on those influences.
