Feeding time at the "boneyard" in Kaktovik, Alaska on Barter Island. Polar bears have been gathering here for centuries in the Fall to wait for the ice to freeze. The villagers of Kaktovik keep the bears out of the village by placing the carcasses of their yearly whale hunts here at the boneyard.
