Antitheus Ater and the Hedgehog

Antitheus Ater was never a happy child. He was abused by his father and nearly all those around him. He only had one friend who would stick by him and love him for who he was. Ater was a quiet boy, gentle natured and kind hearted. He loved Lumen, perhaps more than anyone really knew... They traveled for years together, and embarked on an adventure that no one would ever replicate. When the Master Emerald summoned him to be it's carrier of the Darkness, he did not know that he would forever be marked with the sign of evil; a pair of long, jagged bat like wings. He did not know that those who once merely disliked him now hated him with deep and pure resentment. "Creature of evil!" "Spawn of Satan!" "It's your doing that my child is ill!" "Its your fault our crops are failing!" "Be gone! You are nothing like the Others!" His kind soul was beaten, torn and abused. Yet he stood by his brethren and led the world with fair judgment and kindness. No mortal understood why he had to do the things he did. No one understood why he had the powers he had. If so much as a black cat crossed their path, it was Ater's doing. There was no rest for Ater, from mortal or immortal alike. The love he shared with Lumen could only take him so far. He wanted peace; he wanted a place where he could be alone. The Forest. Deep inside the forest, where nothing human dared to thread was where Ater often resided. Sitting alone, thinking, pondering why his life became what it has become. There was only one animal that dared to come close to him... A tiny little hedgehog crawled its way towards Ater and lifted its head. Ater stared down at the tiny mammal; there was no sign of fear, no sign of hate. Ater smiled began to talk to it. He spoke to it for hours on end. It seemed to listen, it seem to understand. No judgment, no pain. The fascination that destroyed the Mobian world began as simple as that. Antitheus Ater (C) LizSama
