I understand the process of doing the eggs but how long does it take for you to finish one egg such as the ones with detail design or one like this one which is just to real to beleive I love butterflys and your detail here is just awesome super job

Artist Reply: Hi, thank you so much for all your wonderful comments. Each egg varies in time, depending on the size and type of the shell. Ostrich and rhea shells require sanding and it takes forever, like sanding a bowling ball, ugh! The turkey eggs take about 20-30 hours and the ostrich about 40-60. I usually time them by how many days, so 2-3 and 4-6. Thanks for your questions! If you'd like to check out more of my designs, my website is http://www.sojeo.com.

It's beautiful, So Jeo. Is it a real egg? Must be a job to paint so small.

Artist Reply: Hi Anneke, Yes, it's a real rhea egg, relative to the ostrich and emu, so it's on the large size about 5 1/2 inches tall. The turkey eggs are difficult to do since they are about the size of a large chicken egg, so I need a magnifier to save my eyes! The eggs aren't actually painted, they are batiked, writing with wax and dipping in dyes. I have more eggs on my website www.sojeo.com, but I am slowly posting them here. Thanks for checking them out! So Jeo
