Mata Hari was the stage name of Margaretha Geertruida "Grietje" Zelle (August 7, 1876, Leeuwarden – October 15, 1917, Vincennes), a Dutch exotic dancer and courtesan who was executed by firing squad for espionage during World War I.

Beautiful artwork! She is Dutch coming from Friesland. Was a very remarkable woman.

Artist Reply: Thank you, Ai! I'll have to find out what that means. It's good though. This way I can learn more about that country.

the wellknown Dutch "cia" agent!. She is still famous in our country! You did a magnificent job on her Carliss!

Artist Reply: Thank you annette! Yes, quite a character. A real true to life one. I've read that she faced her death with calmness, and with stoic courage. She was a Leo. Aug. 7 1876. I'm one too. What less could they have expected? :))
