1814 Francis Scott Key wrote these lyrics after seeing the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore,Maryland: O' say can you see by the DAWN'S EARLY LIGHT What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming... "The Star Spangled Banner". Our national anthem.... Our flag had 15 stars and 15 stripes. "HAPPY 4TH OF JULY" AMERICA!
