This painting won 3rd place in the National Competition, FSAC 58th Annual Art Competition. The opening reception for the paintings chosen for the show was Thursday night, June 5th. I was fortunate to have 2 paintings chosen for the show, this "Magnolia Tree #2" and "Fall in Arkansas #3" also in my portfolio. The show will run until the end of June at the Ft. Smith Art Center. The 2nd photo is of myself with my award winning painting. Hope you enjoy! This painting is now in the Permanent Collection of the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum!

I can see why it won a spot in the competition. It is one of your best impasto-style paintings. Love it!!!Carolyn Taylor 08 Jul 2008
That painting is so textured and richly done Sharon, it's easy to see why it's a prizewinner! I scrolled down to see the cute picture of you and was surprised by scale of the artwork! Like reproductions of the art of Georgia O'Keefe (which are often small in reality), your Magnolia Tree appears monumental! Its actual dimensions are a surprise!Gloria Ricker 28 Jun 2008
