This is my cousin, Heather... I painted her in acrylics on a thick piece of wood... (about 9x12x1") Look at her eyes, they follow you!! I loved this study in light and had a lot of fun with the feathery collar on her sweater... If you look closely, you can see the wood grain... and an irregular knot in the wood in the bottom left corner of the painting ... I use Golden liquid acrylic paints... This artwork took me about 12-15 hours to paint.

Yes, one of the first things (besides her eyes) that I noticed about your portrait was the unusual wood grain background. I thought, "What a cool backtround, how did she do it?", and you explained that in your description! It's HARD to paint on wood, but you did a fabulous job!
