Vaclav Vytlacil, (1892-1984, a modernist painter and art instructor), lived next door to me. When he died his daughter donated the property to an art school where I subsequently took painting classes. This painting was done in his garden over several weeks. His daughter has paid him the ultimate tribute, leaving his home and property in the hands of artists who come from all over the country and Canada, to paint there and I too am so very lucky to have them next door!
