The Rainbow Bridge

First steps in AW... In September 04, my beloved cat Sumsum died quite suddenly. I was MORE Then SHOCKED... It was as if my heart died with her . I had few terrible days & nights of SADNESS . She died 7 days before my first "Open studio exhibition " . ( as if giving me 7 days to mourn ). I had to explain my kids, to tell the BAD news, but I could not stop crying myself. I had to give them powers, when I myself had none... By chance, or actually for a reason, I found the story about " THE RAINBOW BRIDGE ", in the internet. And so I told my kids that story to help them with the news. Luckily I painted her in Oil, few months before she died. When I arrange that exhibition, while mourning her, looking at her painting, she was ALIVE, for me. Few month after, I started a small painting inspiring by the story " The Rainbow Bridge "... somehow, I didn't completed it then.. Few days ago, I did.. and here it is today. Have a splendid loving day. Copyrights (c) Nira Dabush,

This is simply stunning Nira and a beautiful tribute to Sumsum. Grief, though sad, can produce the most beautiful of images. It can also help us to move on. Art can give us the chance to say goodbye, though it can never heal the hurt we feel it can help us express it. Excellent and a very heartfelt work.

Art mends a heart broken. I know that feeling of lost for treasured pet who is friend and family. In October 06, one of my dogs — Muggsy — died of heart attack in my arms. Several days before that happened I awoke with a fealing of something going to happen. Perhaps it was preparation or premenition. Every now and then I think I see a glance of him wondering the house. Just yesterday in the coffeeshop where I draw a woman came in carrying a dog that looked just like him. Thanks for sharing.

Artist Reply: Hello Steven.. I'm so sorry for your loss, it sound terrible, to lost your pet in your arms. AND.. About your feeling of what was going to happen, I can very much relate myself. My Sumsum was not ill, until the last moments... all the years she was very HEALTHY... Perhaps she was ill, but, I didn't feel so... until 2 days before she died. YET... I must say I did few things in the month before she died, that later, I saw as symbols of what happened later.. But I simply didn't at all guess it's going to happen. The things that happened here before she died : 1. I designed 2 invitations to my open-studio exhibition and the one I send, I saved in the name - " invitation black " ( by the way I didn't like the name, but I made in another colour ). 2. I attached music in my official web - site, on the page of the cats, I put - " Another Day In Paradise" by Phil Collins. My son , Saar told me, change this song, it's a song of death...I said to him, it's a beautiful song by Phil Collins ... he few times said to me - change it !! .. I said I love this song.. I haven't find more that I like in the internet to be used for this purpose... I simply didn't at all realize, that she'll die just few days after... She gave no signs of illness until her last 2 days . Of course, I took her to the vet... and still didn't understand she was going to die. Thanks for sharing your stories with me, perhaps your Muggsy met my Sumsum at the rainbow bridge :-) ... Enjoy your day, Nira.

Such a sad and great tribute to Samsun. Priscilla my cat past away 2 years ago and it is so hard to lose her. I know what you are going through it was hard for me too.

Artist Reply: Teresa.. thanks for your comments..I'm sorry for your loss, Priscilla. My Sumsum died about 3.8 years ago... Her memory is still inside of me, and will always be there. Also my kids still remember her.. Saar loved her very much, she used to sleep with him , in her last years. Sometimes even latelty , my younger kid, Yarin ask why can't she come back.. why did she had to go ?.... I have 2 more cats at home.. One Sirena , who is about 16 years old... and Silk who is about 3.5 years old. I very much enjoy my cats. Few month after Sumsum died , I knew I would take another cat, especially for my kids, who missed Sumsum very much... I , then asked myself to find the RIGHT Cat for us.. that will be as wonderful as Sumsum was... AND, I brought one day Silk home.. and he's SO WONDERFUL... In some ways resembles Sumsum also. I love Silk VERY VERY MUCH... Yet I must say, for my kids, although Silk love them very much.. but they still not attached to him , the way they were attached to Sumsum. She was such GOOD Soul. Kind regards, Nira.
