Israel is honoring today the memory of its 22,437 fallen soldiers and victims of terrorism. Remembrance Day opened yesterday evening with a minute-long nationwide siren, as Israelis observed a moment of silence in memory of casualties starting from 1860 to the beginning of May of this year. The figure includes 1,634 people killed in terror attacks. Official ceremonies will be held today at 43 military cemeteries. ***************************** The photos were taken at the Memorial Garden to the Fallen in Tel-Aviv. This unusual garden which has been created in memory of Tel-Aviv residents, who have fallen in Israel’s wars. Eleven groves of indigenous trees have been planted, signifying different periods of Israel’s wars: from the pre-state period to the present time. In the center of each copse is a granite memorial column, on which are engraved the names of those who fell in each war.
