The upturned boat cut in half and used as a shed is a traditional storage shed for fishermen in the North-east of England. Lindisfarne is one of the few places where this tradition still continues. The photograph therefore shows the death of, not only the fishing industry, but also of traditional ways of life. The iconic Lindisfarne castle is clearly visable in the backround.
