Disturbed Pool

My step dislodged a stone that fell with a plunk into the quiet pond. The smooth, dark water shimmered in circles. Waves reflected a sun that squinted through fluttering clouds. My shadow shook in black puddled streaks over the surface of the pool. I felt like an intruder.
