This typically metallic-green chafer(Cetonia aurata, family Scarabaeidae) is usually seen feeding on flowers. The larvae live in decaying plant material such as compost, peat and rotten wood. The photo was taken on March 15, 2008.

I envy the close-up ability of your camera. Either this beetle is bigger than I think it is, or you are able to get closer than I can... which means I'm not sure I like you anymore! :) :)
