Tseva Adom = Red Paint

This is a small tribute to the people of Sderot, and the area of Negev, Israel . During the last 7 years the people of Sderot are being bombed almost daily with Kasam rockets. About 120-150 rockets are thrown there each week. In the last week, about 150 kasam rockets were thrown. The population of SDEROT are weak people and poor, and their voice is not heard enough to their everyday suffer, FEAR..Damage and LOSS. As I see it ..it is war, that's going on for years, at this area...the war of terror. When such kasam rocket is thrown...they hear in loudspeakers, the watchword , "TESVA ADOM " which means Red paint, or Red colour, to indicate for them of a danger...They have 15 seconds to run for shelter or cover ,if they can find one. In the last weekend such rocket hit directly a kinder garten...luckily it was Sabbath and no one was there, but at their homes. I post here a small video, to show..just a bit their lives in the last 7 years........Try to imagine yourself , when a rocket is thrown at your home...or directly at one of your dear ones at work, or in street, or at school... UNDOUBTEDLY, not normal life..but LIFE in sponsorship of FEAR. With a true prayer in my heart for PEACE, in the middle east, and everywhere else around our planet. MDA Sderot

It is sad that we live in a world full of suffering and war, when will we learn that life is precious. This is a very emotionally charged piece Nira, truly an excellent piece my friend

Wow!! Incredible state of emergency! Its almost unimaginable to live under those circumstances, Nira! You've done a wonderful and symbolic job here! Wow!! ~S

Artist Reply: Hello Steve and thanks so much for your comments my friend. True it's UNIMAGINABLE situation to live in...and happen a lot in the history of Israel, in different places..or different shapes of terror. Very sad. Enjoy your day ,Nira

We are so fortunate here in the UK Nira we sometimes forget the horror of war that goes on needlessly in other countries. Thank you for bringing this to our attention in such a strong and powerful way. Mary

Artist Reply: Well mary...most parts of the world are fortunate..and I hope one day soon...We may be fortunate as well here in the middle east...Thanks so much..NIRA

Dearest Nira the world needs artists like you ...we all should never give up to vote for the peace and to wake up all goverments around our wonderful planet ....we have to make all efforts to live in a peaceful world!!! As you know , I'm a sucker of red but the red of the war I don't like ! You're awesome !!!:-)

Artist Reply: Good evening my dear Brigitte..I also love Red..it is one of my favorite colours..YET..Red has a lot of meanings..Here for this so difficult subject, I use a shocking RED...To get the impact of my viewers...And YES..I think it's important to express the idea of peace in ART, around the world and especially in places where PEACE, is HOPE... Especially people living in war/ terror areas...Where perhaps the understanding of the urge for peace is different, because of the circumstances. It's not easy though..not every artist can express those emotions connected to a state of war...to protest against war..Even if we are so against war. Thanks so much...NIRA

Thom Roslan 04 Mar 2008

May God Protect ALL the people in the Middle East.......It's the people in charge that keeps this Un-holy Wars to continue to prevail. WAR in any part of the world today is unconscionable. The citizens of the world MUST protest as Nira has ......more artist should create and speak out against WAR.......There is no sense or honor in War.......ONLY GREED & POWER! God Bless you Nira for standing up and stating this!

Artist Reply: Dear Thom...THANK YOU !! Perhaps you'll organize the people around the world to protest against wars...just kidding..But seriously...I think it's too complicated subject, I mean wars around the world..Not only I can't understand it..and very sad about such situations that occurs around the world and in my area..Personally I don't see the solution to end all wars..I wish , I pray...I HOPE !!! It was always part of history , since bible...Will human learn ever ?... Best wishes to you my dear friend

Your story and video, while very disturbing, certainly brings home what is really happening in Israel!! While my husband and I are forcused on what happens in Israel, we can't really know what it's like to have that terror everyday!!! So sad!!! I hope you are not near any areas that are being attacked!!! My prayers are with you and the whole country. We visited the Holy Land in 2000!! It was a wonderful trip!!!!

Artist Reply: Hello Ruth...I live about 1 hour and 20 minutes by car from Sderot, or Ashkelon that suffering in the last days Katiushas. So I'm safe. But it is so sad to know that this part of Israel, know such bad times for too long..and...other parts at other times. I'm glad to know that you were visiting our country, the holy land in 2000...and I'm proud of YOU :-)...!!! Thanks for your comments...Have a delightful afternoon / evening...I'm off to sleep soon...so very tired.

Hiromi Green 03 Mar 2008

Dear Nira, I am very moved by this work. I come from Hiroshima as you know and we suffered so terribly after the Bomb and all Hiroshima people want to see the World in peace. I keep listening to that sad story from my family and I think we can send message to people from our Art like you. The Governments of this World have a lot to answer for. It is always the innocent people that get hurt by this cruel situation. There is a way to peace but it takes many people extra effort for it to succeed. It can be done! There is a way - you have to believe for all our futures and our childrens futures and so on. Love, Hiromi xx

Artist Reply: Dearest Hiromi...thanks so much for your comments. Of course I know the disaster in Hiroshima..It's unimaginable part of History..VERY SAD. I think you are correct..I think each artist must do, his/her small tribute to these kinds of subjects ..not all can though...But even a small tribute, to express the idea. Best wishes to you and your family and dear ones,NIRA

Lior Goldenberg 03 Mar 2008

Nira, well done and well said! It's about time to make the world aware of what is really going on in Sderot and between Israelis and Palestinians in general, as usually terrorists have better propaganda than anyone else.

Artist Reply: Thanks Lior... What can I say, that you don't already know of the situation..?... Thanks a lot..With hope for PEACE

geri pratt 03 Mar 2008

Thank you for your bravery Nira to bring this to our attention. My prayers for all who suffer in the name of terror.

Artist Reply: Thanks so much ,Geri... and believe me..I'm not at all brave..but i find it as a must to do, since living here in this country, which is my country...as the song say..." en li erets aacheret ... gam eam admati bo'eret ..." = I have no other country even if my land is burning...and so, I must express myself sometimes in internet in this subject. Best wishes,NIRA

A very powerful and beautiful work at the same time. To bad the entire word is so full of this kind of inhumanity by man on man and all in the name of religious beliefs when in reality they all preach peace.

Artist Reply: Well Donald...I truly think that each person should have his/her own freedom of religion ...Personally, I can't understand those who preach for one religion or other...each person must choose what is correct for him/her to believe. Let it be peace...thank you!! NIRA

Anneke Hut 03 Mar 2008

Nira, this is so good! To show it like this! Thank you, the world should know these things.

Artist Reply: yes..it's a must for the world to know the truth..best wishes,NIRA

annette steens 03 Mar 2008

Unbelievable Nira and yet we know it's going on and on the hate between people because of religions. I agree with Chris writing also. We all long for eternal love to come back again and we only can do this by turning the other cheek. As long as we give attention to those bad things and fight back peace will never come. Stop and go your own way deny that you have an enemy it's the universal law of love. So we can do something about it!!! Great work Nira for open the eyes!

Artist Reply: Thanks so much for your wonderful words..I wish more people will think the way you are thinking annette, in such positive way of love...perhaps the world will look a better place to live in...With freedom of religion. Best wishes..good night from Israel,NIRA

Chris Roukema 03 Mar 2008

Most Powerful Work and Message, Nira! It saddens Me of this continuing Violence going on in Your Region of the World and elsewhere! Living here in Peaceful Canada it is hard to Fatham this deep rooted Hatred going on! To Me We are all the same regardless of Religion and Ethnic Origin! I wish I had the formula to end this senselessness like so many others. I shake My head in dissbelief of what is going on, on this Planet! Hopefully, We can All end this somehow! Wishing the People of this Planet, Peace not War!

Artist Reply: Hello Chris and thanks so much my friend for such wonderful correct words..With true hope for peace..one day soon ,nira

Nelly van Nieuwenhuijzen 03 Mar 2008

we only can hope and pray, my thoughts are with you and yours dearest Nirasje! this red is different from my usual reds, this red is a warning red, not a warming ...Heavy and great work!

Artist Reply: My dear Nellinka..You know I love your REDS..You know RED..Is definitely one of my very favorites colours during the years...a very dominate colour..Red has a lot of different meanings.. Like love, passion... and much more... But true this RED..has the meaning of danger..it become the watchword, there in Sderot.. Good night to you my friend..NIRA
