Betty, you have a good eye for color and shading. The colors are rich and the depth is natural. I might suggest that with watercolors to pull your colors for the sky away from the center of the image to over the edges, like you seem to have done on the uppe left portion, as compared to the right side, where the strokes are bulling up and down with short stops, which as you can see dries to show those lines of begining and end. I also build my landscapes from the distance on to the foreground, marking off the areas that are reserved for the foreground, like the cross, i would have pulled the blues away from the cross and kept thr brush on the paper til it reached the edges to avoid unwelcome lines. Also your clouds are good but too "edgy" , so I would use a round brush in a semi swirling motion to pull them around into a cloud shape. I do like the composition with the cross being on the rock, which to me symbolizes Jesus being the rock on which we can build out faith and the incorporation of the rainbow, which symbolizes peace between God and man, which naturally was achieved by Jesus's sacrfice on the cross. This is a very significant painting. :)Ave

Artist Reply: Thank you for your suggestions. Perhaps I should not be putting my beginner's works on this site. But when I joined I was under the impression it was for all levels of art - even my lowly level. I almost threw this picture away but did not for some reason. Betty
