This is a black and white oil painting
done for the annual "Torrit Grey"
contest sponsored by Gamblin paints.
It was done from a black & white
photograph I took of an old barn
window. Size 11x14
I never thought a pic of an old barn window would be a fave of mine but this is fantastic in so many ways. Colurs, texture, the feeling of age. Brilliant!
Artist Reply: I really can't thank you enough for taking the time to look at my work and leave so many great comments. It's very appreciated ~ You have some awesome drawing skills ~
this intrigue me Heather...you have captured my imagination of mystery and everyday antiquity. Thanks for that "imagination-charge" today...have a safe and joyous memorial day '08!
Artist Reply: Thanks so much Rebecca. Your digital work in fractals is very impressive, you've got some great work ~
Wow, I love this. As a kid growing up, my father and I would always go looking for places like this. He really likes old buildings. You have brought me good memories. Thank you, and great job!
Artist Reply: Thanks so much Brandon. I'm also drawn to old buildings, they have so much character ~
WHAT AN UNIQUE PIECE OF ART THIS IS... one can read a lot in this beautiful painting.... DID YOU WIN THE CONTEST Heather?
Artist Reply: Thanks again Olga. I did win 1st place in 2005 with this painting. Gamblin gave me my choice of art supplies which I'm still using today! Thanks so much for looking at my newest uploads!
This is an extraordinary painting. It has strong emotional impact and the b&w adds
mystery and intrigue drawing the viewer in to the realism of what goes on behind the dark space. You choose a photo and create an atmospheric painting using your special touch to add dimension to the photograph of the farm's window. I a waiting for someone or something to appear in this dark and alluring composition. Your outstanding use of texture and soft color hues add to the intrigue of this magnificent oil painting. I hope you won the contest and I imagine this piece looks amazing framed or on canvas. Outstanding work Heather and I look forward to seeing more of your gallery. Also, I want to thank you for your generous comments on my enchanted leaves.
Artist Reply: Julie, I can't thank you enough for your wonderful comments about my paintings. You write very well and I'm so flattered! I did actually win the contest in 2005, which was a tremendous boost to my confidence as I was just getting back into painting after many years away.
