My new work is reminiscent of earlier work and still displays my affection for sublime and primitve imagery. The works are heavily influenced by abstract expression and artists such as Cy Twombly. The surfaces are heavied with texture and riddled with smears and contrasts that are typcial of my work. I combine tonal contrasts that give the richer areas more weight and the more subtle areas a better sense of accomplishment and place. The work is enriched with expression that gives me a sense of worth beyond any other accomplishent--the creation of simple yet complex form that gives the viewer a place to focus and simply enjoy the quality of the paint and the aesthetics of the piece.
